Let me preface this post with a warning; I am a horrible, horrible liar. Try as I might I just wasn’t able to pick only ten products to rave about. That means this catchily-titled top ten is actually a top 11 (I just couldn’t bring myself to call it a top 11 because really, who does that?)
That off of my chest, I’d like to tell you about my all-time favourite Lush products. It’s kind of hard to pick when everything is so wonderful but there are definitely some things I hold above all others. Weirdly writing this list has shown me I have a preference for sparkly glittery things (I’m really a magpie) and seasonal goodies that are impossible to hunt down during the warmer months (cry!)
Anyway, here’s what makes my heart beat faster…
Shoot for the Stars Bath Bomb £4.25
Sharing the ‘Honey I Washed The Kids’ scent, this toffee/honey/pudding scented bath bomb is one of my all time favourites. Firstly; it smells amazing. Absolutely mouth-watering! (Which isn’t something you can say for every bath bomb.) Secondly, it looks incredible in the tub. The bomb itself contains cocoa stars which melt in the water leaving it super-soft and moisturising. It leaves the water a deep, inky blue colour which when combined with the mounds of gold glitter, leaves you feeling as if you’re bathing in a midnight sky. The whole experience is beautiful and very comforting. I wish Shoot for the Stars was a regular line but unfortunately it only comes out around Christmas time. I suppose in a way this makes it more special but I do always have the fear it may not come back! I have three of these horded away in a stash waiting for a very special occasion.
Scrubee body butter £6.95
Another honey-scented and seasonal product that I adore is Scrubee. This body butter is shaped like an adorable bee, is packed with ground almond and coconut shells and smells yummy. This is a product that can be used in the shower or bath and leaves your skin feeling so soft that there really is no need for additional moisturiser or body oil once you’re dry. I am so sad that this is not going to be kept on as a permanent all year round product because it does wonders for my skin and I really feel there is a gap in the market for it. For now I have been stocking up on as many as possible and hoarding them away as I don’t know how I’ll cope without this little guy.
Golden Egg Bath Bomb Melt £3.95
So by now you’re probably catching on to the theme; I really like honey scented products. This isn’t even the last honey-scented product on the list (sorry!) Anyway, Golden Egg is so fun and I always look forward to Easter every year because I know it’s going to be released. This toffee/honey smelling egg is super sparkly with lots of golden glitter that swirls around in your bath. It’s a combination of a bath bomb and a melt so it’s pretty unique and leaves your water really soft and moisturising. It’s also a measly £3.95 so amazing value for money. Another product I stock up on.
Honey Bee Bath Bomb discontinued
As much as it pains me to say it, one of my all time favourite bath bombs from the regular range is something that has been discontinued (sobbing.) However I recently discovered that it is still being sold in the Blooming Beautiful gift set (alongside Rose Jam.) So if you’re willing to splash out £10 every now and then for this beautiful bath bomb then you’re all good. It also appears in the Kitchen from time-to-time but I haven’t been lucky enough to catch it. Anyway, this bath bomb smells incredible. It smells of honey but it’s quite fresh and very sweet- it doesn’t share the same scent as the items above. It contains rhassoul mud also so it does great things for your skin. This was always my go-to treat or bath bomb whenever I visited Lush. Now my go-to bath bomb is…
Avobath Bath Bomb £3.50
I always feel that Avobath is such an underrated bath bomb. Rarely do I hear people rave about it and I suppose that’s because it’s kind of ‘no thrills’. And by that I mean, it doesn’t spew out a rainbow whilst popping candy crackles and a little note floats out from the centre (but believe me, if that’s what you’re looking for Lush has a bath bomb for you.) No, Avobath is just a nice simple bath bomb that leaves your water soft and green with a tiiiiiny bit of lustre. What I really love about it is the smell; it smells wonderful. It contains avocado, lemongrass oil, bergamot oil etc but the overwhelming scent for me is citrus. It’s a really fresh, fruity and moreish type of smell that I love. Avobath is great for when your skin is feeling dry or dull or in the morning when you need to wake up. I think these types of bath bombs are overlooked because of how simple they are but, Avobath is a true staple for me and it’s one I will always pop in my basket.
Sparkly Pumpkin Bubble Bar £3.65
I don’t want to go around making bold statements that aren’t true but…I really think this might be my all time favourite Lush product. There, I’ve said it. And it still feels right. Another seasonal product (sigh) Sparkly Pumpkin does what it says on the tin. It’s shaped like an adorable little pumpkin – and it’s covered in glitter. It makes the most amazing mound of soft bubbles, turns the water a vibrant and a glittering orange and it smells like…well, I’m not quite sure. It contains lime and grapefruit oils but I wouldn’t say it smelt overly fruity. To me it’s sweeter – actually very similar to a bag of sweets. The scent is probably my favourite part of this bubble bar but really it’s a fantastic all-rounder. It’s a part of the Halloween range which I always highly anticipate and shares its’ scent with Mr Punch soap. I find that frustrating because this small scent family means I’m literally never able to bathe in the glorious smell until Halloween rolls around. I only have one left in my stash which is pretty heart-breaking, and it’s definitely not looking in its’ prime. I think I will hang on to it until a very special occasion arises (like perhaps Halloween next year.)
The Magic of Christmas Bubble Wand £5.95
I purchased the Magic of Christmas bubble bar online based on looks alone. The design is incredibly festive with a star-shaped bubble bar studded with dried anise and cloves, brushed with silver lustre and attached to a chunky stick of cinnamon. Oh, and there’s a ribbon and bow thrown in for good measure. I happen to love bubble bars and this one is reusable so even without smelling it it ticked all the right boxes. I was so surprised by just how much I loved it when it came through the door though. The scent completely encapsulates Christmas for me. Orange, cinnamon and benzoin mix together to create a yummy cake-like scent. Last year was the first year that I tried Magic of Christmas and I only purchased one (d’oh!) but I’m so hopeful that it will be back this year because it’s so lovely and perfect for cold winter nights.
The Comforter Bubble Bar £4.95
Another bubble bar on the list, the Comforter is my regular line go-to. This bubble bar is hefty in size and I find I can get around four very decent bubble baths from it. The scent is also very strong and leaves your skin smelling positively edible (but that would be cannibalism so let’s not, please.) With a fruity aroma of blackcurrants, this bubble bar is a firm favourite among many seasoned Lushies.
Sleepy Body Lotion £7.95 for 95g
Sleepy was the biggest surprise for me. I have never liked that floral scent that lavender gives off. Well not the kind that appears in lots of bath products anyway (fresh lavender is another thing altogether.) So I didn’t expect to like the lavender-heavy Sleepy. I got a small tub of it in a Christmas gift box from my boyfriend so it was kind of thrust upon me. I am so glad. Sleepy is packed full of tonka and oatmeal and it is a very sweet smelling lotion. (Think Twilight.) The idea is that you smother it on your skin after a bath and before bed to send you off to the land of nod. I really do think it works and the scent- wow. I don’t know if this will come back but I hope it does because it’s a fantastic product and I only have one 215g tub of the stuff left!
Snow Fairy Shower Gel £3.75 for 100g (but you’ll want the 1kg bottle)
Snow Fairy is one of my all-time favourite scents from Lush and to me a whiff of the stuff brings back happy memories of Christmases past. Some people think that spotting the Coke lorry is the herald of Christmas but for me it’s when this amazing pink shower gel appears in the Lush shop windows. Luckily for me and the many other Snow Fairy shower gel fans, this scent comes in many different formats and flits in and out of the shop throughout the year. Of course, nothing quite matches up to the shower gel so it’s always good to stock up during the boxing day sales.
Yummy Mummy Shower Cream £4.95 for 100g
I only recently got turned on to Yummy Mummy shower cream during a bloggers event at my local Lush. Prior to that event I hadn’t smelt Yummy Mummy and I wasn’t overly bothered about it (despite the fact the brilliant purple is very appealing.) But when I got to rub the stuff over my hands during a demo I realised that it truly is the work of the Gods. And once again, this is a seasonal product that only comes out for Mothers Day. Sometimes I really could sit down with Lush and have a stern word! Anyway, Yummy Mummy smells like strawberries and cream so as you can imagine; delicious. There are lots of other products with a similar scent (all of which I have stocked up on) but the shower cream really is the best.
Now you’ve read my list, what are your favourite Lush goodies?
