I adore the Lush Kitchen and everything about it; excitedly waiting for the menu to roll around each and every Friday at 3pm, anxiously waiting to snag a long-awaited exclusive when the Kitchen opens at 8am, all those magical parcels in the post that follow…

So it will come as no surprise that I was, to put it mildly, really upset when the Kitchen announced its closure quite suddenly a couple of weeks back.

For those of you who missed the announcement, the Lush Kitchen is finally shutting its doors after three joy-filled years. We have been promised that its not the complete end of the Kitchen, just the Kitchen as we know and love it.

For us Lush Kitchen fans the closure translates to no more weekly menu, no more small batches of daily exclusives and no more accompanying Kitchen Polaroid (sad face). So without that, what’s really left of the Kitchen?

Well at the moment it’s all a little unclear and under-communicated. Although we have been told that the new format will see bigger batches of exclusives released two to three times a year that will be available to buy for longer periods of time. One advantage to larger batches of exclusives is that hopefully we will get more of what we want. Think exclusive perfumes, highly-sought after shower gels and the like. This should also stop the eBay vultures hawking exclusives at eye-watering prices whilst others miss out. Hopefully.

But I guess we will only really know when the new Kitchen comes in to effect.

I’m really going to miss the weekly menus, the Polaroids, the whole she-bang really. But I do understand a need for change and, for awhile now the menus have been a little lacking. At least now we should be getting more of what we really want and love.

To commemorate the Lush Kitchen, a final, golden Polaroid was released featuring all of the team. Of course I had to snap one up as I had been religiously collecting them! It feels like a fitting way to close this particular chapter of the Kitchen.

I also put in one final order. And what a great final product to finish on; Honey I Washed The Kids Shower Jelly.

I have been desperate to get my hands on this shower jelly for a long time and finally after months of waiting, they released it. I only picked up one pot, being a little financially stretched at the moment but the moment I took a sniff I instantly regretted that decision.

This jelly features the usual and well loved honey/toffee/pudding scent but it’s so strong I could smell it before I had even opened the box. It’s a beautiful creamy white colour and honestly, it just looks and smells totally edible. I haven’t had a chance to use it yet but I have heard nothing but good things about it. It is said to lather up nicely creating silky bubbles and leaving the skin super-soft and moisturised. I can’t wait to give this a product a spin in my new bath tub.

All in all, I am sad to wave goodbye to the Kitchen and also a little nervous about what the future holds. That said, change can also be a good thing and it’s exciting to think that wonderful exclusive products will become more readily available! Who knows, I might even be able to grab another tub of the gorgeous HIWTK Jelly?

  1. So sad for you that the kitchen is ending. Let’s hope that they bring some really wonderful products to the new format to at least make up for it a little.
