November crept in silently, bringing with it the cold chill of imminent Winter.
It has been 13 days now since I last sat down to write a blog post. After the frantic month of October I have been enjoying some much needed downtime and relief from all of the writing, photographing and editing. But today I felt compelled to finally sit down and share some thoughts; November is a big month for me and it deserves documenting just as October did.
Perhaps the biggest event for me in November is my Birthday. On the 20th of this month I will be turning 28 and I can hardly believe it. In the scheme of things I am still very young, but in my mind 28 seems an impossible age for me to be. It feels old. But despite my reservations, I am actually really looking forward to my birthday this year. It gives me some distraction from other things going on in my life and it gives me something to look forward to. I have also decided that 28 is going to be my year, regardless of what happens. I am in the pursuit of self-acceptance and love and I am going to work so hard at building myself back up and becoming comfortable with who I am as well as my physical appearance. I have lots of plans surrounding my birthday and also my pursuit of self-love, which I would like to share on my blog (if anyone is interested in reading about those things!)
It’s also now just one month away till the festivities of Christmas begin so as November progresses we will be looking for lots of fun activities to do and events to attend. I’m really excited for Christmas this year and hope to make it a very special one. I’m still debating about whether or not to take part in Blogmas, but we’ll see about that. In all honesty I’m still recovering from Blogtober!
Anyway, I thought I’d share my hopes and plans for the month ahead. I know we are already 13 days deep in to November but as I say, I have needed a bit of time away from blogging. Better now than never!
18th-19th November – I’m really excited to be spending the weekend before my birthday with my parents. We’re all going out to eat as a family and it’s going to be so nice to have some quality time with them. Admittedly these days I am there quite frequently, however it’s always nice to celebrate an occasion with them.
20th November – my birthday. Gareth and I are going up to Cambridge for a yummy meal and drinks. I’m super excited for this day and I’ll probably share a few birthday posts on the blog.
26th November – Christmas lights switch on in town. I love little town events, especially Christmas ones! Our first year in St Neots, it’s going to be absolutely lovely to attend the lights switch on. There is said to be a funfair along the high street, a fireworks grand finale, live music on a stage, a craft and gift market and hot food stalls. After my birthday is when I really start to feel festive so I’m really excited for this one.
And in between these dates I need to fit in time to celebrate with my friends!
In terms of goals I don’t have too many but have thought of a few things I’d like to achieve.
- Start Clubbercise classes. I’ve found a group that runs these fun exercise classes on a Wednesday which is usually the day I choose to work from home. I have really wanted to try Clubbercise for the longest time but for some reason or the other have always put it off. The classes resume on the 22nd of November so I am hoping to finally get my ass in gear and go along to one. I want to get my fitness levels back up and exercise is a good way to help combat depression so I think it would be really beneficial for me on multiple levels.
- I have decided that in 2018 my Etsy shop, Pretty Little Finch is going to go through some changes. I want to change my brand name, logo, products – basically I want to change everything. But in order for that to happen I need some new designs. So one goal for this month is to actually start drawing/painting again and come up with at least one new design.
- I desperately want to start vlogging but sorely lack the confidence to get in front of the camera and then share it with the world. This month I’m going to film a ‘What I Got For My Birthday’ vlog. I may not share it (I will see what the interest is like first) but I’m definitely going to film it. Because at the very least it’s practice (which makes perfect, right?) and a record for me to keep!
- Come up with my self-love plan. So, I know I want to work on my confidence, how I perceive myself and my anxiety – I know I want to really love who I am as a person. But I don’t exactly know how I’m going to do that just yet. This month I’m going to research and read and make my plan. I will probably share my plan up on the blog for anyone that may be interested. As I have had a lot of CBT for my BDD, I will probably root some of my plan in that. I’m also thinking about a new blog series ‘self love Sundays’ where I share some tips/tricks on ways to look after your mental health and boost self-esteem. But we’ll see. Again, this is all very dependent on the level of interest I receive for this sort of thing. (So if you want to read it, please let me know.)
And I think that’s it – that’s definitely enough to keep me busy for the remainder of the month! It’s been good to get back to writing and spilling my thoughts again. I’m really looking forward to taking on this month! What are you looking forward to this November?
