It’s Sunday morning; my hair is a fiery knotted mess, sticking up in all directions, I have a turmeric clay face mask on and a cursory glance out of the window reveals a delicate fog. It’s colder now. I feel it in the morning chill. It got me thinking – we’re deep in to Autumn now, almost half-way through.
For today’s Blogtober I thought I’d look back over the past few weeks and recap on my Autumn. Please forgive any low res images – some have been taken on my phone!
September kicked off with the most gorgeous meal at the Betterment restaurant located in The Biltmore hotel, Mayfair. I wore a burgundy red velvet dress and my boyfriend, Birdman looked very handsome in a white shirt/trousers and braces combo. We were invited along as guests to a soft opening so we didn’t have to pay for anything (needless to say we had quite a few champagne refills!) Everything was delicious but we particularly enjoyed the saddle of pork cooked two ways. More importantly we laughed all evening and now have vague plans to form a band.
I also kicked off September with my first PSL of the season! Is there anything more Autumnal than that?!
Mumchelle and I did our annual collecting of conkers and came away with a huge bag full of the shiny things.
More visits to the park near work were had – both at lunchtime and after work. I love going there to feed the birds and kick through the leaves as it feels really Autumnal at this time of year. Birdman and I went after work one day and spent a good few hours pointing out all of the ducks and water fowl.
Family time was had – mostly we just did a lot of Halloween shopping!
Birdman and I spent a rare Saturday morning together and chose to take a wonderful Autumn walk around Dulwich park. We had lattes and hot breakfasts at the cafe then took a leisurely stroll around the park pointing out the different leaves, taking snaps on our phones, finding mushrooms and admiring the magnificent Turkey Oak. This was a real highlight for me as there’s nothing I love more than an Autumn walk and it was made even more special by sharing it with someone who is as passionate about nature as I am.
Another highlight of the season was the annual Lush Halloween range drop. I picked up a stash of goodies and have been thoroughly enjoying warm baths on cold evenings.
Birdman and I went for lots of lovely drinks and meals after work. (Probably why I’m getting so fat!) Personal highlights were Bodeans and the Circus-themed London Cocktail Club.
Mumchelle and I took a long walk around Rainham Marshes – we got caught in a ferocious storm but it was actually quite fun! The frogs had come to the surface too so it was lovely to see them.
And finally I picked my pumpkin! I had been growing it for months and the vine finally died so it was time to set her free.
October saw the garden come to life with beautiful flame-red leaves. Since that time I have been enjoying the garden as much as possible (it has been great for Blogtober photos!)
Mumchelle and I took a walk around Running Waters. We saw lots of ducks! A couple of robins and a greedy (yet extremely cute) rat that lived in a bird feeder. We even collected up some chestnuts to roast at home later that evening.
During October I finally got tattooed by one of my favourite tattoo artists and came away with the most amazing Autumnal-themed piece; a Great Tit perched on some Conkers. Around this time I also helped Birdman look after his Dad’s house whilst he was away on holiday. When I say ‘help’ what I really mean is I ate lots of delicious food (Birdman’s chilli) and watched Ru Paul. It was a lot of fun and good to have some quality time to ourselves.
Of course I couldn’t get through October without picking up some spooky-cutie brooches and Sonny Angels…
Finally Mumchelle and I made it to the Pumpkin patch to pick pumpkins!
I’m having an amazing Autumn so far and it’s still not over! Next week I’ll be seeing the Chromatics play live and I have a trip to Amsterdam. My lovely boyfriend has also booked us a super-exciting trip to Paris for my 30th so I can’t wait to celebrate in style with him when November rolls around.
Recapping my Autumn has made me feel very happy – why not give it a go yourself? Remember to tag me so I can read your entries if you do!
