One of my favourite things about Blogtober (besides challenging myself to create content and generally taking lots of lovely Autumnal-themed photographs) is reading all of the fun posts that pop up in my reader.  One blogger who I have been following for sometime now (and whose posts I always enjoy reading) is Hollie over at Beauty and the Bookshelves. Hollie is also taking part in Blogtober and recently posted a fun Autumn Tag (which you can read here!)

For today’s Blogtober I thought I’d take part in the tag too. Make sure to check out Hollie’s post and please feel free to give it a go yourself if you’re taking part in Blogtober and fancy writing something fun and lighthearted!

What is one candle you MUST light every Autumn?

I tend to refresh my candle collection every season and I’m always looking for new variations on the scents I love so I wouldn’t say there is one particular candle I light every Autumn. That said I favour anything pumpkin-scented. Last year my favourite candle was pumpkin bourbon – delicious and spicy!

When you think of Autumn, what does it remind you of?

Halloween, bonfire night and my birthday are all big events (for me) that happen during Autumn. However, when I think of Autumn as a season the most impactful and inspiring thing is nature; seeing the leaves turn beautiful shades of red, rust and yellow, trees laden with shiny conkers, chilly mornings and rainy afternoons.

What is your all-time favourite Autumn/Halloween movie?

I’m not in to anything horror so I guess that rules out Halloween movies in the traditional sense. That said I really enjoy watching cult classic The Craft. It’s super cheesy but always gets me in the mood for the season and reminds me of my youth because I owned it on VHS and watched it until it wore out!

Do you have a Halloween costume in mind? If so what?

I tend to dress up for Halloween every year. Previous years have seen me attend events dressed as a Poirot clown, roadkill deer, pumpkin, bat etc. This year however I’ll be in Amsterdam and although I will be home for the evening I’m not sure if I’ll have anything planned. I did buy a toadstool hat however and have vague plans to go dressed as a mushroom if I find anything fun to do (and anyone willing to accompany me when I’m dressed as said mushroom.)

What is your favourite Autumn trend?

Right now I’m loving oversized shirts (which I wear over a swing dress and team with fishnets and Doc Martens) and all things corduroy.

When you think of Autumn, what drink comes to mind?

For me Pumpkin Spice Latte is the taste of Autumn. The minute they hit Starbucks it signals the start of the season for me.

What is your go-to Autumn beauty product? A must-have staple!

During the Autumn months I really enjoy wearing gold, burgundy and orange eye-shadows. My favourite palette has to be Chocolate Orange by Revolution. It’s super-cheap (costing a mere £8.99 from Superdrug) but the colours are amazing and last all day. I have the Naked Heat palette which has a lot of orange and warm tones and despite it technically being better quality (and far more expensive) it gets much less use than the Chocolate Orange palette.

Do you prefer apple pie or pumpkin pie?

Weirdly I have never tried pumpkin pie. Seems like an odd thing to say considering how much I love pumpkin but I don’t think it’s particularly common in the UK. That said I do think I would really enjoy it. I guess apple pie wins by default, which isn’t a bad thing because it is yummy after all.

Do you have any Autumn traditions? If so tell us all about it!

I have lots of Autumn traditions that I look forward to each year. Mumchelle and I make sure we go to the best Horse Chestnut tree in the area and collect up loads of conkers – it’s something we both always really look forward to. Another tradition is visiting the pumpkin patch to pick pumpkins which I’ve been doing for around four years now. I also tend to celebrate Halloween/bonfire night with an event each year and this always involves dressing up! Finally Blogtober! I’ve only been doing this for around three years but it has become somewhat of a tradition now and I tend to rope in friends and family to help with it.

The moment of truth, is Autumn your favourite season?

Yes! I’m a big fan of Spring too but there’s something about Autumn that just feels really atmospheric and special. During these months I make lots of fun plans and just feel really positive and happy.

If you’d like to have a go please feel free to copy the questions below and thanks again to Hollie for bringing this tag to my attention. Happy tagging!

  1. I love reading other peoples answers to these tags 😊 The Pumpkin Bourbon candle sounds amazing, I love anything pumpkin scented too. Omg I’d love to see a picture of you dressed as a mushroom 😂 That’s such a cool idea haha. Your autumn traditions sound really fun too, I tend to pick up loads of conkers as well and just place them around the house. 😊

    • Haha I will definitely post a photo to Instagram! Yeah it’s a super-fun post to read and write. I need to find some more Autumn related tags!
