Autumn evenings are ideal for relaxing, getting snug under soft blankets and living your best Hygge life. For today’s Blogtober I thought I’d share my perfect cosy night in – perhaps this will inspire you after a long and tiring day at work!
Run a bubble bath
When the wind is whipping up the leaves outside there’s nothing nicer than drawing a hot bath and filling the tub with bubbles. My perfect cosy night in involves lots of lovely Lush Halloween products and a good Spotify playlist with some cheesy tunes I can sing along to loudly and badly. I’m currently loving the Sparkly Pumpkin bubble bar for my Autumn evening baths as it creates mounds of super-soft bubbles, smells absolutely amazing and turns the water orange with flecks of golden glitter.
New pyjamas are a must for my perfect cosy night in. Of course I can’t buy a new pair every time I’m staying in for the evening but every now and then (when I’ve had the foresight to plan ahead) I’ll pop to Primark and pick up a new set – usually fleecy and super-warm. Failing that, a freshly laundered pair that’s just been popped in to the tumble dryer is a great alternative. Putting them on after a bath and a good moisturise is probably one of my favourite feelings.
When I think of cosy evenings I think of pamper sessions. In addition to a nice long soak in the tub I like to treat my tired skin to a face mask or two. I’m currently enjoying the Superdrug range of face masks – in particular the sugar and spice warming mask.
Lighting candles helps to create a cosy atmosphere and my favourites feature traditional Autumn scents such as pumpkin and cinnamon. I love when my room is lit solely by candlelight – especially when it’s raining heavily outside. I’ll open up all of my windows to make my room nice and cold and then get snuggled up under blankets.
Watch a favourite TV series
During the Autumn months I tend to spend more evenings indoors (which I absolutely love!) It does mean I generally watch more TV/films than I otherwise might. My perfect cosy evening involves binge watching favourite shows and series – the more feelgood the better. I’m currently loving the UK edition of Ru Paul’s Drag Race and make sure to catch it every Thursday! Whilst I wait for new episodes I enjoy re-runs of the American counterpart and shows such as Gavin and Stacey which feel familiar and comforting.
I’m the kind of person who finds it hard to pay 100% attention to anything (not a great trait!) so I tend to enjoy scrolling on my phone as I’m watching TV. I love to have a good online shop – usually browsing eBay for bargains. My days are usually very long and quite busy so I find spending my free time at the shopping centre to be a bit depressing. That said I love the thrill of finding a special gem so winding down with a spot of online shopping is the perfect compromise. Plus it gives me something fun to look forward to – lots of parcels in the post!
As the weather turns my diet changes (and unfortunately this is not always for the best!) Long gone are the throw-together salads that take ten minutes and can be eaten in the garden after work (in the last of the Summer sunshine). Instead my perfect cosy evening features a hearty and warming meal. I love a nice stew, sausages and mash, pasta bakes – comfort food at its best.
