This Summer it has been very quiet over at Pretty Little Finch. You’d be forgiven for thinking that I simply had nothing to share or write about, but in reality it has been a pretty action-packed few months. This Summer (for the most part) I simply decided to just live without getting the perfect shot and analysing every experience in a detailed 1,000 + word post. So yes, I’ve been documenting the good (and the bad) days over on Instagram, but I haven’t shared much of it over on this blog.
When the Lush Kitchen closed its doors back in October I was a little bit heartbroken – better off financially yes, but heartbroken all the same.
You see, the Friday menu releases and the ensuing packages in the post that followed were oftentimes the highlights of my week, and without them my life has felt a teeny bit less exciting (and less gorgeously scented).
Lush Labs is in full swing now but I have to say, for me it has been a slow start; I haven’t yet purchased any of the exclusives simply because none of them have appealed to me in the way Lush Kitchen products did. That’s why, when the Lush Kitchen announced it would be releasing seven (one-off) exclusive shower gels I was probably more excited than is generally considered acceptable.
I was lucky enough to grab four of these exclusive shower gels so today I thought it would be fun (and a bit throw-back) to share my haul with you!
We’ve been living in our house for around eight months now and in that time have been working hard to get it feeling more homely. The great thing about owning versus renting is that you can do pretty much whatever you want decoration-wise so before we’d even moved in we’d hung up the wallpaper to give the place more character.
I’m really in to home decor and love having a virtual snoop around other peoples homes so today I thought I’d share some of my favourite nooks and knick knacks around my own home. (more…)
I have wanted an aviary since I was a child and obsessed with the one in my Grandads garden. He had canaries, finches and some funny little quail at the bottom, pecking up all of the dropped seed. I can still remember it now – a rickety structure he put together with old pieces of wood and rusty chicken wire- my grandad was good at building things like that.
This year I was finally able to make my dream a reality and together Gareth and I put together an aviary in our own garden. We’ve been slowly introducing our finches to it and it’s been somewhat of a process – but now we’re very nearly at the end and so today I really wanted to share it with you and give you a little tour of the aviary and its occupants.
Let me just preface this post with a warning: this is very image heavy!
For awhile now I’ve been toying with the idea of writing about some of my collections. Collecting is a big hobby of mine and I find a lot of joy in it – if you follow me over on Instagram you’ll probably already be quite familiar with some of the things I covet and hoard because I’m forever posting photos. But for some reason I’ve remained relatively quiet about them on my blog. I guess I didn’t think many people would be interested but as this is such a big passion of mine I thought it would be fun to write about (and photograph!) And when it’s all said and done this is my little space on the internet, I really have to stay true to myself!
So today I’m going to give you a little glimpse in to my Kitsch, Kawaii and Retro collections. I can’t show you everything as I’d be here all day! But I’ll show you some of my favourite pieces and explain why I love them so!
Spring is finally here and I have been enjoying it as much as I can; walks down blossom-lined streets, long days spent outside in the sunshine and even the odd BBQ thrown in for good measure.
The past few weeks have felt really good – productive and positive. But I have been so busy I’ve barely had a moment to stop and reflect on it all – and as a result I’ve been blogging much less than I usually would. Today I thought I’d post some all-important life updates and just check in with where I’m at. So grab a cup of tea and your favourite snack – I have so much to share with you!
I love Easter time; lighter evenings, streets lined with blossom-laden trees, fresh starts and new beginnings. Even though I’m 28 now I still make the effort to celebrate the occasion in any way that I can and I’m lucky enough to have a family that understand the importance of it too.
Gareth and I spent this Easter in Paris so we couldn’t eat chocolate eggs, cook a roast dinner or do any of the things we usually might. When we got back from our trip we decided to have a nice day out with my family and do the most Easter-inspired, Springtime thing possible and feed the lambs at Barleylands.
Over the Easter bank holiday weekend Gareth and I travelled to one of our favourite destinations in Europe: Paris. It had been more than a year since our last visit and we couldn’t wait to get back there, eat all the macaroons, stroll down the River Seine and soak up the atmosphere of Paris in Spring!
Every month I look forward to opening my Lucky Dip Club subscription box; filled with a fun printed pair of socks, enamel pin and mini zine it really does brighten my day.
Naturally I was eagerly anticipating the April box, but when it arrived I was absolutely blown away by how perfect it was – and very befitting of the season ahead. The plant/grow theme is my favourite by far and I can’t wait to show you everything that’s inside this ‘gram-worthy box.
It has been awhile now since I had a nose around a vintage/antiques fair. The last event I attended was back in December- you can read about my visit to Judy’s Affordable Vintage Fair, Cambridge here.
Anyway, as I was scrolling through ‘what’s on St Neots’ lists online, I came across an event for an Antiques Fair being held a town over in Biggleswade. Not really knowing what to expect I figured I would give it a go – I’m so glad that we did as it was absolutely amazing!
Today I thought I would share with you a few of the wonderful pieces I picked up, as well as give you some info on the fair. It’s held monthly so is well worth a visit if you’re in the area!
It feels a little weird writing about Easter and even contemplating Spring when it’s snowing outside! But here we are, in the middle of March and once again the Lush Easter collection has rolled around. Today I thought I’d share with you my small haul for 2018!
It’s been a few weeks since I last blogged.
Without realising it, I think I had become a bit disheartened with it all, as is not too uncommon a feeling for me. My lack of motivation combined with my low mood led to my writing and photography hiatus – it wasn’t intentional, but I can’t say I actively fought with the apathy. If you’re a creative in any sense of the word, you’ll be familiar with the feeling i’m describing.
On Sunday morning we awoke to sunshine and cold, blue skies; it felt like a day for adventure. Having spent our Saturday in a state of blissful laziness, we decided this day would be perfect for a walk- and Woburn Abbey Deer Park was on our list.
Nothing gets me more excited for the season ahead than a new Lush release, and the Valentines range is one I always highly anticipate because I never fail to fall in love with the products.
When Lush dropped its’ 2018 Valentines range as pre-release online I knew I had to grab some goodies straight away! So whilst the range isn’t officially in store until the 12th of this month, I already have a selection of bath bombs and bubble bars to share with you today – how exciting! (more…)
So it’s that time of year once more; a time to look back on what has been and to reflect on what I hope is to come, to wave goodbye to 2017 and welcome in the new year.
If you’ve not read one of my New Years posts before (you can catch up here and here!) then I shall warn you- these posts can get a bit lengthy and deep. Before we begin, grab yourself a cuppa and a cosy blanket. Ready? Let’s go…
