October has been one of the busiest months of my life. Between moving house, working full-time and taking part in Blogtober, I’ve barely had the time to process it all. That said, it has been an exciting month – full of new and happy memories. As it is slowly coming to a close (I can hardly believe how quickly the month has passed!) I thought I would share my favourite things with you.
If you have read any of my Lucky Dip Club unboxing posts, you’ll know that I love my combo subscription box and receiving a fun pair of socks and pin each and every month.
Well, the LDC has fairly recently become even more exciting with the introduction of the Fri-YAY! surprise. In case you aren’t yet familiar with it, the Fri-YAY! surprise is a surprise that is released every Friday at 8am in limited quantities. This surprise is often a piece of jewellery (think necklace or brooch) that has been collaborated on with an indie designer/maker and is priced at a very reasonable £10.
It’s that time of the month when cute and colourful mail drops through letter boxes across the country and further afield. It seems like only last week I was unboxing August’s box how quickly the months have rolled around! (more…)
Autumn is my most favourite season; to say I am enamoured with it would be an understatement. I just love all the pretty scenery around at this time of year. The gorgeous golden, yellow and rust leaves, the crisp, cool air and sunshine and of course, all of the fashions.
During the Autumn months I will happily stock up on chunky knitted jumpers, cute printed dresses, scarves and accessories in my favourite colours of mustard, burgundy and forest green. For weeks now I have been buying little bits and pieces here and there to completely refresh my Autumn wardrobe. Today I thought I would share with you just a few key pieces that I really love and know I will be getting a lot of wear out of this year.
As the weather gets colder, now more than ever is the time to start gathering up reserves for your garden visitors. During the harsh Winter months it’s really important to keep your garden birds well fed and your feeders stocked with a variety of seeds, nuts and fats to keep energy levels up.
As I have just moved house, I don’t yet know what types of birds will be visiting my garden so instead have opted to cover all bases. I thought this would be a good opportunity to show you what types of food you can and should feed the different varieties of bird you may find in your garden, as well as some dos and don’ts to keep your garden birds happy and healthy.
For those of you who may not know, I’m a huge podcast junkie and love nothing more than a good binge. I find them fascinating and always have one on the go, whether I’m in the bath tub soaking away my cares or furiously tapping away at my computer at work. And ever since Serial, my podcasts of choice have always been true crime.
It’s funny really; I’m a complete wimp when it comes to horror – I can’t stand scary films! But I find true crime podcasts really interesting. Sure it’s a bit morbid, but it can really tell you a lot about the society we live in! Anyway, today I thought I would share my top five true crime podcasts with you, you never know, one of these might be your next listen!
I lead a busy life and, as such, tend to become prone to bouts of stress. Combine that with my anxiety and you have a recipe for disaster. Because of this it’s really important for me to take time out at least once a week to focus on my mental health and have a nice pamper evening. Winding down and treating myself helps to calm me and lift my spirits so it’s something I always make time for.
On Saturday we finally completed our move. Although this has been an exciting time, it obviously hasn’t been without stress; we have found ourselves incredibly busy packing, moving, unpacking, setting up the house etc. In fact we’ve been so busy that I have barely had time to sit down for five minutes. Finally, on Sunday night (tonight!) I found a couple of hours to relax and have some “me time”. Here I am sharing my perfect pamper evening…
You’re too sensitive. You need to grow a thicker skin! Stop taking everything to heart. You take everything so personally.
Over the years I’ve heard them all, every single one of them. I am an emotional person, highly sensitive and I care a lot. In this society emotion is often perceived as a sign of weakness, so it’s really no surprise that time and again I am lectured on my feelings and expected to reign them in. (more…)
October has been a busy month, what with the house move, work and taking part in Blogtober it feels like every spare minute has been accounted for. I haven’t had time to take a bath let alone pursue hobbies.
One thing I have really tried to stay on top of though is my reading. I love a good crime or thriller fic and have been reading on my train journeys, before bed and in the few and far moments of quiet in between. I thought for Blogtober Day 20 I would share the (few) books I’ve had a chance to read/glimpse at. Who knows, your next read might be on my list?
If you ask me, Autumn is the best time of year for fashion. I love all the shiny brown Chelsea boots, cute plaid patterns in shades of rust, the chunky knits and cosy sweatshirts. It’s definitely a lot easier for me to pick colours, patterns and designs I really love during the colder months. As soon as it gets warm again I start to despair!
I adore the Lush Kitchen and everything about it; excitedly waiting for the menu to roll around each and every Friday at 3pm, anxiously waiting to snag a long-awaited exclusive when the Kitchen opens at 8am, all those magical parcels in the post that follow…
So it will come as no surprise that I was, to put it mildly, really upset when the Kitchen announced its closure quite suddenly a couple of weeks back.
Sunday morning was chilly and crisp yet filled with streaky sunshine; the perfect Autumnal morning for pumpkin picking.
it’s Monday 16th and I can hardly believe we are half-way through Blogtober! Today I am sharing another mini vlog to show you what we got up to on day two of decorating. This will be the last mini vlog for awhile – at least until we are all moved and settled!
Today I thought I’d share another mini vlog. This one shows how we have started to decorate our home plus our plans for future decoration. My weekend has been filled with moving/decorating etc so it only seemed appropriate to be blogging about it. I will probably upload a couple more of these mini updates as we continue to decorate and move more bits and pieces in to the house. Hopefully you won’t find these too boring but please let me know either way! Also a huge thank you to Gareth’s parents who have been simply amazing and have really helped us with everything!
today I thought I’d share a super short yet sweet vlog of our new home. This tour lasts approximately three minutes and is intended to show you around ahead of our big move which is happening next week (exciting!) I will be following this up with more mini vlogs throughout the whole moving process to keep you update with where we are at. I did think about saving all the footage up to make one big (and proper) vlog but then I thought...nah. I know it sounds cheeky but multiple small vlogs might just be the thing to help me keep on track with Blogtober! I haven’t uploaded this to my Youtube channel so you will find it exclusively here.
Please let me know if you enjoyed this post as it will help me with future vlogs and Blogtober posts!
