Slimming World Friendly Pumpkin Spice Coffee

During the Autumn months there’s nothing I like more than a hot drink, and my drink of choice is always a Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks. There’s something about the delicious spices and whipped cream that epitomise the season for me; if I wasn’t on a diet I could easily drink one every day.

Sadly I am on a diet and as such, I can’t drink one every day. I follow Slimming World so spend a lot of time coming up with ingenious hacks to lower the saturated fat content and ‘syns’ in everything I eat. The other day I came up with a really simple recipe for a Slimming World-friendly  pumpkin spiced-coffee and it was actually really tasty. Today I thought I would share the recipe with you. It’s great if,  like me, you’re following the Slimming World plan but want a tasty and low-syn treat to curb your coffee cravings or even if you’re just trying to save a few extra pounds – those Starbucks PSLs are expensive after all!

My Neighbourhood In Autumn- A Photo Diary

Now that Autumn is in full-swing and the leaves are beginning to fall, my neighbourhood is looking really lovely. I took a walk with Sandy (the pug puppy we’re dog-sitting for the week) this afternoon and decided to snap a few photos to capture how everything looks right now. After all, there’s no better way to explore and see your own neighbourhood through fresh eyes than with an excited puppy!

For todays Blogtober I thought I’d share some of these Autumnal photos.

A Mini Homeware Haul and Decorating For Autumn

In my house it’s perpetually Autumn. I take a lot of decor inspiration from the great outdoors and as a fan of British wildlife, have a lot squirrel, fox, pheasant and deer-printed cushions and knick-knacks scattered about. The colour-palette of my living room is very warm featuring shades of brown, rust orange, green and copper.

Each year I like to add a few new pieces to the living room to keep it feeling fresh and interesting. I also dig out last years candles and put away my Spring/Summer scents. Today I thought I’d share a really small (but perfectly formed) Autumn homeware haul and explain how I personally like to decorate for the season.

Pumpkin Spice Biscuits Recipe

There’s something about October that makes me want to bake. I’m not quite sure if it’s the need to come up with new, fresh content for Blogtober or all of the Bake Off I’ve been watching but, the drive is there.

Yesterday we spent the day at a pumpkin patch – and I came away positively inspired. I recently discovered that the ‘Pumpkin Spice’ mix that I so adore rarely has any pumpkin in it whatsoever – and is actually just a blend of spices. I wanted to try this spice mix out to see if I could make the flavour I love so much. Putting two and two together I decided to bake some pumpkin spice biscuits! Here’s the recipe…

Autumn in the Park – Photo Diary

The ground is carpeted thick with leaves, brown and red and orange; curling up and crackling underfoot like flames, licking out at my ankles. Overhead the gentle thwack of feathers as a bright green parakeet takes cover high in the treetops, blending in among the green and yellow. The air is cold and crisp yet the sun shines hotly, filtering through the trees and dappling everything with a warm glow.

Walking through the park at lunchtime is a calming experience, especially now that Autumn has arrived.

Autumnal Jewellery Haul/Collection

If you have followed my blog for awhile you’ll know that I’m a bit of jewellery addict. I absolutely adore anything fun, quirky and themed – especially if it’s made from acrylic! My brooch collection is now pretty strong and I’m sure I have pieces to wear throughout Valentines Day, Easter, Halloween and Christmas! (And all of the little occasions in between.)

Each Autumn I refresh my collection with a few new key pieces. Last year I wrote a post on the pieces I picked up here! Today I thought I’d share the brooches and necklaces I have added to the collection this year.

Creating Halloween Goody Bags For Trick Or Treaters

Halloween is one of my favourite times of the year. I love any excuse to get dressed up and celebrate, but there’s something about the spooky-season that really appeals to me (probably all of the pumpkins everywhere!)

When I was a kid Trick or Treating wasn’t as big as it is today. I don’t think I ever went Trick or Treating at all – it was just something I read about or saw in the movies. But despite that my family and I always celebrated the day with home-cooked Halloween-themed dinners from my Mumchelle (sausage and mash can easily become fingers and brain…) and funny little games played out in the living room. And every single year without fail my mum would treat me to a couple of those fun Halloween Lucky Dip bags on the walk home from school. Even our local newsagents would get in on the action, with a Halloween display in the shop window. I have fond memories of popping in to buy a bag of crisps and coming away with plastic fangs and bats. I guess nostalgia plays a large part in why I love Halloween so much – it was just such a happy time for me!

Autumn Candle Haul

During the Autumn and Winter months nothing makes me feel cosier than lighting candles – the warm glow and seasonal scents make home feel like a safe haven, protected from the wind and rain.

Every year in September I start my candle hunt in earnest. I love all the traditional ‘Autumnal’ type of scents – think cinnamon, gingerbread, toffee and pumpkin. And so whenever I’m in any kind of store that sells homewares, I keep my eyes peeled for candles that might tick the boxes. This year I managed to pick up some really lovely scents, so thought I would share them with you!

Bath And Body Works Fall 2018 Haul (UK)

As a self-confessed bath bomb addict and bubble-bath dweller, I’m always on the look out for new bath-time treats. Living in the UK I’m lucky enough to have access to my all-time favourite store – Lush. Lush has amazing products and for that reason all of my bath bombs, shower gels, scrubs and shampoos come almost exclusively from there and I feel quite content with that. But there’s one store I have always desperately wanted to buy and try products from, and it’s one we definitely don’t have here in the UK – Bath and Body Works.

Up until very recently I have only been able to browse the Bath and Body Works website longingly, adding products to a basket I can never check out with before exiting the site and buying a consolation bath bomb from Lush. That was until a fellow blogger on Instagram pointed me in the direction of a very special Facebook group…

Hello October – Blogtober begins

September seemed to fly by in a haze of lazy Sunday mornings and woodland walks, endless cups of Pumpkin Spiced Lattes and warm bubble baths on chilly evenings.

October is here and with it comes Halloween, firework displays, toffee apples, dark mornings and of course, Blogtober.

Visiting The British Wildlife Centre

Last week I was feeling rather ill and sorry for myself – after a whole Friday spent laying listlessly in bed I desperately needed to do something that would cheer me up. When Saturday arrived it was cold, but with brilliant sunshine – the perfect Autumn morning. And although I still felt rather under the weather, I couldn’t waste the day – we decided to pay a visit to the British Wildlife Centre.

Blogtober End / Reflections On October

It’s Tuesday 31st October, 2017 and that can only mean one thing; it’s the end of Blogtober and I officially completed the whole challenge!

Although to some it may not sound like a big deal, Blogtober has been incredibly hard and challenging – and I’m so proud of myself for completing it. I managed to write an impressive 31 posts over the month of October, writing them amidst a house move, work and a busy schedule. In all honesty I didn’t think I’d be able to do it but now that I have I feel really pleased.

For my final Blogtober post I want to reflect over the month of October and Blogtober and share my personal highlights with you, as well as a few things I have found challenging and what I have taken away from it all.
