There’s something about October that makes me want to bake. I’m not quite sure if it’s the need to come up with new, fresh content for Blogtober or all of the Bake Off I’ve been watching but, the drive is there.
Yesterday we spent the day at a pumpkin patch – and I came away positively inspired. I recently discovered that the ‘Pumpkin Spice’ mix that I so adore rarely has any pumpkin in it whatsoever – and is actually just a blend of spices. I wanted to try this spice mix out to see if I could make the flavour I love so much. Putting two and two together I decided to bake some pumpkin spice biscuits! Here’s the recipe…

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Bake Off is giving me all the inspiration. Today I decided to try my hand at another simple bake – an Autumn-inspired apple strudel.
I’m not a baker, but I do enjoy a nice slice of cake and greatly appreciate those skilled enough to bake yummy treats. Although I’m a proficient enough cook, my foray in to baking has taken me as far as burning some misshapen biscuits with my mother when I was much younger.
I don’t know if it is the change of season or the fact that I’ve just started watching Great British Bake Off for the first time ever (let’s be honest, it’s probably the latter) but lately I have really had the urge to try my hand at baking.
